The notes below give a brief explanation on how to make the most common updates to FVC website.

Getting an account:
- Full members of FVC may request an individual account setup by the webmaster
- Send an email request to web@fvc.org.uk
- Be sure to give sufficient contact info for the webmaster to verify your identity
- Include your suggestion for preferred Username and Password
- Note Passwords cannot be changed later by users themselves and should never be shared
How to Login to CMS:
- From any page on http://www.fvc.org.uk/
- Click 'Login' found on right hand side of top orange bar
- Type Username & Password
- Press 'Login' button
Type of updates most authorised accounts allow -- listed in ascending order of complexity:
- Add Calendar event (for Fixtures, Training Dates, and Socials)
- Add News article (to highlight any information that will age relatively quickly)
- Update text content on an existing page (for more static type of information)
- Mailout a Newsletter
- Upload image files and add to Gallery
- Add a completely new page
Add Calendar event
- Select 'Calendar' on top navigation bar
- Click on the specific date you wish to make the entry for
- Fill out the form fields presented
- Hint: note the venue and, if applicable, the contact in the description
- Press 'Add calendar event button'
- Return to Calendar to check your entry
- Your entry will be immediately accessible from 'Dates' page on the website (remember to shift-Reload if you had the page open).
Add News article
- Select 'News' on top navigation bar
- Select 'Add News Article' from sub menu
- Complete fields presented -- pay particular attention to choosing a meaningful expiry date
- Note: You may select a future News Date -- this is useful to boost an item to top of list and/or enphasise the date of an upcoming event
- Press 'Add News'
- Your entry will immediately be visible in the 'Latest FVC News' box on the website (remember to shift-Reload if you had the page open).
Update text content on an existing page
- Select 'Content Manager' on the top navigation bar
- Select the page to be updated by clicking on the graphic within the 'Website Content' box
- Press 'WYSIWYG selected' button
- Note: WYSIWYG means 'what you see is what you get' c.f. 'Edit selected' button allows more complex HTML coding
- Make your updates
- Press 'Update and publish'
- Your changes will immediately be visible on the website (remember to shift-Reload if you had the page open).
Mailout a Newsletter
- Select 'News' on top navigation bar
- If desired: Select 'Newsletter Subscribers' to review the recipient list
- Select 'Newsletter Mailout' from the submenu
- Leave message format as TEXT
- Put your own email address in the From:
- Type in a Subject
- Type or paste your message in the Message box
- Note: recent News Article entries are NOT automatically included with the mails; If you wish to bring attention to all current FVC News entries, include in your message the link: http://www.fvc.org.uk/default.asp?contentID=598
- Note: If you use the Send Test option, the tags, eg [firstName] are NOT resolved as they will be with the Perform Mailout
- Press 'Perfom Mailout'
- The message will be sent to all Newsletter subscribers within a few minutes.
Upload image files and add to Gallery
- Select 'Content Manager' on the top navigation bar
- Step 1: Upload image(s):
- Select 'File Manager' on the submenu
- Click on 'Launch file manager'
- Click on the folder icon labelled 'gallery'
- Check you have '/img/gallery/' showing directly below 'Information' on the top right
- Click on 'Upload file'
- Press 'Browse'
- Select the image file on your PC
- Press 'Upload file'
- If desired, click on pencil icon to rename the file
- Press 'Close window'
- Step 2: Update Gallery page
- Click on 'Content' submenu (of 'Content Manager')
- Expand 'About Us' to see icon for Gallery page
- Click on icon for Gallery page
- Press 'WYSIWYG selected'
- Scroll to bottom of the table
- Place cursor in bottom left cell
- Perform 'insert row after' once for every pair of images you will add, plus 2
- 'insert row after' is the 5th icon on the last row of control icons
- table is setup for images to dispaly in pairs
- the extra 2 rows are for your title and a goap to the next set
- Leave a one-row gap from previous pics and enter a title set of pics
- note: leave the cell to the right of your title empty
- Position your cursor in an empty cell below your title and press the 'Insert/edit image' icon
- 'Insert/edit image' icon is a mini picture of a tree
- Press 'select image..'
- Click on folder icon labelled 'gallery'
- Click on your image file
- Press 'Select file'
- Press 'Insert'
- Your changes will immediately be visible on the website (remember to shift-Reload if you had the page open).
Add a completely new page
- Select 'Content Manager' on the top navigation bar
- Select 'Add content' on submenu
- Fill in: Page Name and Page Heading (usually the same)
- Select Template:
- Standard Template has the 'Latest FVC New' box on the right
- No News Template allows more space for wide tables, etc
- more templates may be devised/made available in due course
- If the new page is to be shown in the lefthand navigation menu:
- Scroll down to 'Content Location'
- select folder icon under which page will show in menu hierarchy
- note: you may adjust the order pages appear later using the 'order menu item'in content manager
- Otherwise (ie if page is not to appear in menu):
- untick 'Linked from menu' if the page is NOT to be listed in lefthand navigation menu
- Scroll back to 'Content:'
- Click on 'WYSIWYG HTML Editor'
- Press 'Okay' to save changes made on Content Details form
- Type or Paste your new content into the editor pop-up
- Press 'Update and publish' when done
- note you can update the page without publishing if you want someone else to review your page before it goes live
- Your page will immediately be accessible on the website (remember to shift-Reload).
- note: if you didn't add your page to the menu, you can use 'sitemap' to locate it
